Bridal shower

My sister Brin is getting married in a couple of weeks so yesterday we had a bridal shower for her. The decorations were a little on the scary side since it was held at my house and we are all decorated for Halloween. I don't think she minded though. I think it turned out well. There were about 16 guests and lots laughs. We played a couple of games my favorite being the balloon game. I handed out balloons to everyone and they had to blow them up as much as they could without popping it. The bride-to-be's had a hole it. It didn't work as it should have because she won but she did have to keep blowing and blowing. She would get it full and feel she was done then she would feel the top again and realized there was more room for air. She just kept blowing and blowing. Another game was called "Our Song." Each guest wrote their name and the song played at their wedding or if in a current relationship what their song is or if in no relationship what song they like. It was interesting seeing all the different songs from different eras as the guests age ranged from early 20's to over 50.

Art Time

I don't think a better invention was made for art time than paint with water. No real mess and the kids love it.

Alexis was so into painting. Even when she was done she wouldn't let me take her paper, she had to paint more.

Evan Story

Evan comes out of his room today after having changed into pants so he could go outside. For some reason my boys still feel it is warm enough at least inside to wear shorts. Anyway...Evan is all excited and wants to show me the pants he chose to wear and our conversation goes as follows:

Evan: Mommy look what I am wearing!

Me: Wow! Nice. (Then I take a look) Evan you put your pants on over your shorts didn't you? (In my look over I noticed that his bulged some in the hip area and was kind of lumpy all around.)

Evan: (He looks down and then pulls the waistband of his pants out, looks at me and grins) Oops I forgot. (Then he rushes to room to change)

Now if this story had been me instead of Evan I would have had to say. "Nope. Sorry mom, those are my real hips and buns. No extra padding needed."

Halloween Time

Lilly turns 26

My sister Lilly and her children have been up visiting for the last couple of weeks. Her husband is in the Air Force and was just deployed. As it happens she was here for her birthday so we got to celebrate with her. Happy Birthday Sis!

Priesthood Session

Ever since Ben was a baby Doug has taken him and the others boys, as they came to us, to the priesthood session of general conference. This past weekend was no different except he only took Ben and Chris. I think I got gypped. I want to go too. I mean ice cream for going sounds like a deal to me.

Brin turns 24

Happy birthday Brin! My sister Brin turned 24 this past week and we had a party last night for her. She is also recently engaged. Talk about a good birthday.

Lexie gets a shiner

Surely not her first and not to be her last. However, this shiner was her first one captured on camera so here it is for the world to see. Her and Evan were playing yesterday morning and as he came down she went up and the two collided. With three older brothers she sure is turning into a tomboy.

Potato Harvest

Every year since owning our own land we have tried to grow a garden. May I emphasize "try". We are in thermal pocket and a cold one at that so our growing season is very limited unless we want to trudge outside and cover plants all the time to protect from the freeze. Have I mentioned that we froze the last of June and then again the first of September? Short growing season. Well we have never in all our 4 years had a good potato harvest. We did this year though and I have to brag about it. Doug was actually responsible for them while I tended the cold loving stuff like lettuce, peas and carrots.

What fall?

This time of year is generally known as the season of fall. Well I think mother nature decided to skip it this year. We fell from 90 degree temps to 50 degrees in just over a week. What happened? The heater has to turn on and now I have to run to get all the apples picked and everything winterized before it stays frozen outside for months. It has already gotten down to the 20's at night. Can I just say Brrrrrr? Except for nature trying to skip a season not much is going on in the Miller house. Just trying to play catch up to winter prep because the warm weather threw us off.
