Hello world! No I have not been taken hostage by anyone or anything contrary to what my absence on the web may say. I haven't posted since Thanksgiving and that is when my world started to fall apart. The day before Thanksgiving I hurt my back, but could still function to some degree. The following Tuesday, however, changed all that. The power went out and with only electic heat in the house I decided to bundle everyone up and go to my parent's who are on a different power company. This decission was my own since Doug had been in China for over a week and was not set to return for a few more weeks. This decission proved fatal. Lexie was not cooperating (what 2 year old does) and I had to force her in her car seat. Wednesday morning I couldn't walk. After a trip to the physical therapist, Urgent Care, ER and doctor I was told to go on bed rest and see if it fixed itself. After two weeks in bed an MRI was order (Doug flew right home by the way). The verdict: Herniated Disk! Ouch! My disk fluid was pushing out and crushing my nerves hence the problem walking and other nerve related issues I was having. What to do? More bed rest and heal. I hate bed rest! If I could have moved I'm sure I wouldn't have stayed in bed as long as I have, as it was I could not so I was stuck. During this time of pain I also had another worry. Pain pills and a developing child. Yes, you read right, we are expeting a baby boy in May. Thankfully things are working out and I am feeling better if not up to full speed yet and the baby so far is just fine.
11 weeks gestation

21 weeks gestation - He was a mover and a shaker so a good picture was hard to get. At least he stopped moving long enough to find out gender and moved enough to get this face shot. I think he is camera shy.

Hey, congrats!! Super excited for you. Hope your back is all better now!! I can't imagine how painful that must have been, and hard to function with Doug gone.
ReplyDeleteOh man!!! Back problems are the WORST!! But congrats on the baby!!! That's happy!
