Gone Fishing on the Fourth
Every Fourth of July there is a fish pond for the children. Here are my little fishers.

Fireworks
To end our Fourth of July celebrations we went to nearby town Deer Park to watch their firework show. Surprisingly Alexis was not scared of the loud sound. We had a great time during the show but leaving was a nightmare. Gridlock does not even explain the situation. We made it home by 11:30pm and everyone had already crashed or in my case was more than ready to crash in my bed and never wake up. Ok, I guess I'll wake but not until I get lots of sleep.

To prove I am at these functions here is me with the kids waiting for the fireworks
My sister Brin and her boyfriend showed up and sat with us. Aren't they cute?

Worth a thousand words
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I believe they just might be right.
What do you think?
This was taken 1 1/2 hours after she went to bed. She really was asleep, but the look is that she is trying so hard to stay awake. Don't we all feel like that sometimes?

Daniel and the lion's den
This week it was Evan's turn to teach the family home evening lesson. This week's topic was a scripture story so I asked him what his favorite story was and he really didn't know what I was talking about. We have these living scripture video tapes that I let the kids watch on Sundays, so I asked him which movie was his favorite. Out came the answer of Dora. No Ev, what scripture movie is your favorite? After thinking for a bit his reply was Daniel and the lion's den. This was an answer I could work with. I decided to make a lion and Daniel puppet for him to hold as I told the story. Then we brought application to our lives by saying sometimes it feels as if we are being fed to the lions when we try to do right, but Heavenly Father is always there for us. Here are our puppets.
Activity Day
So, one of these days I'm going to remember my camera when I leave the house for an outing with the children. Today was primary activity day and it was very good. They had different outdoor carnival type activities set up for the kids to rotate through. There was a duck pond where the kids had to scoop up a duck to get a prize. Then there was a ring toss, cake walk, balloon dart game and a bean bag throw. It was very well put together and not corny like some of these things can be. Unfortunately you don't get to see any pictures of the kids doing the activities because I forgot the camera. However, this is the haul they made in prizes.
